Favorite biking genre: Favorite is difficult when there are so many choices and so many ways to define favorite. If forced to choose one preferred genre, it would have to be gravel. Gravel riding cemented my love for cycling and introduced me to a community of like-minded riders. In that regard, it will always have a very special place in my heart.
Favorite ride/accomplishment: Returning to my “home” gravel around Lincoln, Nebraska, to finish the 150-mile Gravel Worlds 2017.
Years riding: I’ve been riding fairly consistently since 2003. I started with commuting and adventuring on my own as a form of stress relief during college. A few years later I met an amazing group of women ambassadors for the sport and was introduced to gravel, cyclocross, and singletrack. Even after riding most of decade, there is always something new to learn, a skill to hone, a personal best to achieve, or a new place to experience by bike.
Favorite bike: The 2016 Specialized Rumor…my first full-suspension mountain bike…she’s playful, fast, and fits perfectly, which has greatly improved my confidence on more technical trails.
Favorite post-ride activity: Eating.
Why do you ride: I ride for many reasons. I ride for my physical and mental well-being. I ride for adventure. I ride for community. I ride for fun.
